The largest concentration of flora and fauna in the municipality is located to the south, in its swampy part, with an extension of more than 200km. This place is considered a nature reserve. The fundamental species are the Oak, the Cedar and the wooded vegetation typical of a swamp. The rest of the municipality has mixed forest forests around rivers and streams, fruit bushes concentrated mostly on the La Inés farm.

The greatest concentration of fauna is in the swampy area of ​​the territory where animals such as the manjuarí, maja, jutias, dwarf jutias, quail, deer, ducks, chickens, congas, carabalí, pigs, songbirds, jicoteas, crocodiles, biajacas, guayacanes predominate. among others.

In the swampy soils of the south of the municipality are the El Pajaral lagoon, which is the refuge of fauna for a large number of local, natural and migratory birds such as the marsh of Ciénaga, Seville, the blue heron, the stilt wader and the royal sarapico.
